Ambulatory care
Ambulatory costs are all costs that are not shown on your hospital invoice in connection with an admission (a day admission or a longer stay). Think, for example, of a scan or ultrasound, the purchase of medication, a visit to the specialist, the general practitioner or the physiotherapist. There are 3 types of outpatient costs depending on your situation.
Pre-/post period hospitalisation
Medical costs that you incur outside your hospitalisation, but that are related to your hospitalisation, are part of your hospitalisation file.
Serious illness
Care in the context of a serious illness must be included in the file on your serious illness.
Ambulatory cost guarantee
Are your costs not related to a hospitalisation or serious illness? Then they are covered by the ‘ambulatory expenses guarantee’ and you have to report them separately. Check your policy to see if outpatient expenses are covered.
