Why do I have to pay back a certain amount to Vanbreda?

If your admission is arranged with Medi-Link, we will pay your hospitalisation invoice directly to the hospital. Afterwards we will send you a final settlement note with an overview of all costs that are not covered. You'll pay them back to Vanbreda.

The amount you have to pay yourself is calculated on the basis of your policy conditions. Sometimes there are exemptions, limits or limitations in our reimbursement. This means that not all costs will (fully) be reimbursed. For example, non-medical expenses will never be reimbursed by your insurance company.

Why does Vanbreda withhold an exemption? Isn't there a refund?

The exemption is the amount of the covered costs that you have to pay yourself. In the case of hospitalisation insurance, this exemption applies to each insured person. Do you have ambulatory insurance? In that case, the exemption can apply both per insured person and per family.

Why does Vanbreda refuse certain costs?

Not all costs are covered: for example, non-medical costs (wifi, telephone, care products) will never be reimbursed by your insurance company. For an overview of the costs, exemptions, limits and restrictions covered, please refer to your policy conditions.

Why are outpatient expenses refused because they are outside the pre hospitalisation period of the admission?

The intervention is always calculated according to your policy conditions. Your insurance reimburses ambulatory expenses that fall within the pre-post period and that are directly related to your admission.
